Stitching playday

Ooops I have not posted in this blog for a while- so here goes-

The group met last Friday to work on stitched fabrics in preparation for our next playday in May when we will dabble in Powertex.

As we are working towards a new exhibition called 'Renewal', we have decided to make a collection of small bowls & vessels using Bronzed Powertex.

These will act as a group installation & hopefully look good on plinth at the foot of a very beautiful round window in the gallery.- more to come on that.

We distorted plain fabrics with neutral threaded stitch, piping and texture, which can be later used in the powertex workshop.

In addition some members have chosen to stitch into patterned fabric or plain fabric using coloured embroidery threads, with a view to using the clear powertex. These pieces could go into the cabinets.

Here are some photos taken on the day-

My work on cotton muslin using piping cord under the fabric which has been whipped around & thick thread laid on top & couched down.
