Suzanne

I’m a textile and personal, social development teacher living in Lancashire.  I have since childhood had a love of all things needlecraft and now focus on patchwork, embroidery and jewellery making.  I worked in a needlecraft shop for seven wonderful years until having my youngest son.  I then began studying City and Guilds Creative Studies with Embroidery, gaining my diploma in 2007.  Following that I studied for my Certificate in Education, and received my diploma in 2009.

Now I work as a tutor, teaching a variety of craft skills, working mainly with fabric and paper crafts.  One organisation I’m involved in is Fine Cell, helping students to produce tapestries and embroideries for special commissions, exhibition and sale.
I love colour and prefer to dye my own fabric adding hand and machine stitch.  My embellishing machine is also a fantastic way for me to create my own backgrounds to work on.

I tend to use simple stitches to create line and movement, adding embellishments to give texture, interest and usually a bit of twinkle, as I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to anything shiny.
